The species of the Lamiaceae family produce essential oils in glandular trichomes, leaf surfaces, and inflorescences, can also many secondary compounds, which indicates great potential for study. aim this paper was to describe chemical composition biological, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antitumor activities oil Cantinoa althaeifolia first time. obtained from leaves by hydrodistillation analyzed gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS). antioxidant activity established phosphomolybdenum method. minimum inhibitory concentration against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans determined. lethality test Artemia salina performed. cytotoxicity murine fibroblasts (3T3), non-tumor cells (McCoy), melanoma (B16F10), human breast carcinoma (MCF-7) assessed. Five major compounds were isolated: himachalene (11.62%), spathulenol (10.08%), caryophylline oxide (9.93%), (E)-caryophylene (9.21%), pogostol (6.31%). complex method showed positive results. greater than 1000 μg/mL tested microorganisms. mortality rate low. cancer cell lines an IC50 12.5 25 μg/mL. These findings indicate that has activities.
